The actual play itself is an exploration of a number of composite characters, based on elements of real people encountered by Lushin, all of whom are portrayed by Daman and Lushin and are united by the common theme of HIV in some form or the other. A janitor, with a misinformed view of HIV and AIDS, a truck driver, in search of pleasures of the flesh while on the road and a eunuch, who lives with HIV are just a few of the colourful and superbly enacted characters in Muskaan.
