Raell Padamsee and Lushin Dubey talk to Amber Dias about their new endeavour 'Women Now' SAVVY July 2013

"I chose these plays because the content is so intense,  there is no way that you cannot be a part of what is  going on," says Raell. "Lushin, in my mind, is one of  the most fantastic actresses that we have. Her plays are  intensely simple and yet highly complex."

But bringing such intense subjects to life is no easy  task. Lushin avers, "In'Untitled', I work with puppets  and ventriloquism and in 'Bitter Chocolate' with  multimedia. When I started concentrating on subject-  driven theatre, I realised that I had to tell the story in a manner that would entertain and move the audience. It  is especially hard with strong subjects, because entertainment has to be laced in. Fortunately, both these productions have stood the test of time and entertainment. I play over 10 characters in each production, so it has been very challenging. But at the same time, it's been magical to perform."
